In Post 1, Save Money and Maximize Miles using Google Shopping and Cashback Monitor, we explored how to combine Google Shopping with Cashback Monitor to save the most money while earning the most and highest-value miles. This post explores how to complete the purchase using the Shop Through Chase Ultimate Rewards Shopping Portal to click through to the merchant’s website using one of the most valuable credit cards.
The analysis in Post 1 concluded purchasing the GE Monogram Refrigerator from AJ Madison.com through the Shop Through Chase portal was the most lucrative miles earning option. For Chase credit cardholders to complete the purchase, log in to your Chase online account using your login credentials.
Next, scroll down to bottom of page to select “See more stores” button
Scroll down to bottom of page to type in merchant
Type the merchant name into the Search Box
Click on the AJ Madison button, then take note of the merchant’s terms and conditions. If any is violated, the merchant may not reward bonus points or claw them back at any time after rewarding the bonus.
From the Shop Through Chase button, Click the “Shop at AJ Madison” button to enter AJMadison.com website
Enter make/model number into search box
Add GE Monogram Refrigerator to cart to confirm out-the-door price. Your Chase Ultimate Rewards bonus points calculation is based upon base price, excluding taxes and shipping fees. (No bonus points are awarded for taxes and shipping fees)
After you checkout, take note of the order date, order number, order amount (exclusive of taxes & shipping) and shopping portal through which you completed the purchase. You will need this information in the event the portal fails to track the purchase, or to dispute the eligibility of the purchase to earn bonus points with the portal operator in the event merchant fails to award bonus points.
Typically, the shopping portal awards bonus points immediately upon shipping but can take up to 4 weeks to post to your shopping portal account. For our portal purchase we earned 5,566 Chase Ultimate Rewards Points ($2,783 X 2 points per dollar), worth ~$122+ when redeeming for premium air/hotel travel. This total does not including the points we earned for using a points-earning credit card to pay for the purchase.
How should you determine which credit card to use? Use the card that gives you the most points of the type of points that you value the most. The Chase Freedom Unlimited Card, when paired with either the Chase Sapphire Preferred or the Chase Ink Business Preferred card earns 1.5X (1.5 points per each $1 spent), comes with a $150 or 15,000 Ultimate Reward sign-on bonus after spending $500 on the card within 90 days of applying, and has no annual fee. For small business owners, the Chase Ink Business Preferred card earns 1 point per dollar spent, comes with 80,000 Ultimate Rewards points for spending $5000 within 90 days of applying, for a $95 annual fee.
Stacking the 5,566 Ultimate Rewards earned from the Shop Through Chase portal with the 4,174 ($2,783*1.5) Ultimate Rewards earned by using a 1.5X card gives us a total of 9,740 Ultimate Rewards, worth ~$214 or more when redeemed for premium travel.
How have you taken advantage of the Chase Ultimate Rewards Shop Through Chase portal and favorite credit card to maximize miles earning on purchases you needed to make anyway?
